Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) is a powerful tool for mapping the spatial distribution of biomolecules in a variety of samples. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is an optical brain imaging technique that allows functional imaging of brain activity by monitoring blood oxygenation and blood volume in the pre-frontal cortex, and can even assess multiple cerebral cortex locations selectively.

Shimadzu offers a complete mass spectrometry imaging and brain imaging product lineup, including our flagship model for Q-TOF MS Imaging, the iMScope QT Imaging Mass Microscope, the iMLayer AERO automatic sprayer for MALDI imaging for easily obtaining images with high sensitivity and spatial resolution, and the LABNIRS and LIGHTNIRS fNIRS systems, built for brain science research.
